About

I began in wildlife biology, and the through-line since has been the same question in different clothes: how institutions handle problems that cross borders and outlast the people making the decisions.

Fieldwork led to NGO work in Paraguay, where I founded Voces de la Naturaleza, an environmental education programme that reaches around a thousand children a week in remote communities. Watching what changed behaviour there — and what didn't — is where the interest in norms began.

From there I moved toward the machinery: an MBA at INSEAD, then carbon markets and sustainability consulting. Today I'm an energy and sustainability advisor at SLR Consulting, working across carbon markets, Scope 3 strategy, decarbonisation advisory, and nature and energy transition topics, and acting as the de facto AI lead for the energy advisory team. The consulting years taught me the premise this site keeps returning to: the analysis is rarely the bottleneck.

That is what pulls me increasingly into AI governance — a problem with the same structure as climate, moving faster. I'm a graduate of BlueDot Impact's AI Frontier Governance course, which is where Another Way began. Alongside the advisory work I'm the founder and chair of EveryDrop, a Scottish charitable microdonation platform, and I build and run agentic AI systems in production; the experiments strand of this site is where that shows.

I hold degrees in biology and an MBA from INSEAD. I live in Glasgow.

The name

The Elephant Path takes its name from the Tibetan image of the monk, the monkey and the elephant — a mind slowly tamed along a winding path. It felt right for a site about patience, and about problems that only give way to steady, collective effort.
